Anyone who knows me recognizes that I am a simple man. I won’t bowl you over with great philosophical quotes or engage in a deep conversation about the meaning of life. I have my opinions, of course, but I found out a long time ago that we all have our beliefs about life and its meaning. I rarely find conversations that revolve around religion or the origins of man that produce a good outcome. Usually, bad feelings ensure, and all good that could come quickly disappears. However, I will share one quick observation with Christmas upon us, celebrating the birth of one Jesus Christ.

It has been my experience and observation that when one follows the teachings of Jesus Christ, the chances or odds of finding happiness and joy in this life are dramatically increased. That is just as simple as it gets for me. In my private life, when I have kept close to His teachings, my life has been better. My relationship with my wife has been enhanced. The relationship with my children and grandchildren has improved, and the overall interaction with others has been lifted to a higher level. Having my wife aboard following the Savior has also dramatically blessed my life in every aspect. I have also noticed that this life presents enough challenges. I don’t need to help bad karma along by doing things that are clearly against the teachings of Jesus Christ. My life has suffered when I have chosen to do things against His teachings. So, for me, the proof is in the ‘Christmas Pudding!’

I believe innumerable eternal blessings come from believing and following who I consider the world’s Savior. But I don’t need to die to benefit from His teachings. I can live and be blessed. So, the best gift I can give anyone this Christmas season is my lifelong observation and advice that if you follow the Savior’s teachings, your life will be better than otherwise. You won’t find a better gift under the tree! Merry Christmas!
